Community

Scofell has grown from a core of six people when it was set up in 1998 to about 60 full-time staff.

We are still based in Newbury, which is the centre of our client base across the south of England. We think of ourselves very much as rooted in the community: our staff are mainly local, and we are embedded in the local community.

Local Employer

We are a local employer and we employ local people. Simple as that.

But we serve far more than the local neighbourhood. Our teams travel across the south of England, to wherever our clients need us.

Charitable & Community Work

Scofell supports several local charities. As well as donating money and raffle prizes, we give our skills free of charge: for instance, mowing their grounds, helping with their cricket pitch or other sports ground at the start of the season.

Our charities include:

  • Swings & Smiles – an outreach centre for disabled children
  • Time2Talk – which promotes the mental health and emotional wellbeing of young people aged 11-25 in West Berkshire
  • Newlife – which supports parents of premature babies
  • The Secret Garden – a volunteer gardening group in Newbury.
